Cupertino high school student Angela Zhang may know the cure for cancer: As a freshman, she started reading doctoral-level papers on biological engineering. By her sophomore year in high school, she managed to convince Stanford University to let her use their laboratories, and by junior year, she began doing her own research that led her to develop a recipe that boggles even her chemistry teacher.

Zhang’s recipe won her a $100,000 award at a national science competition sponsored by Siemens.

Her method of curing cancer by aiming an infrared light at mutated cells killed cancer in mice; it will be a few more years before it can be determined if the method works in humans. Nevertheless, Zhang’s three years of research is considered a breakthrough. [CBS News]

I started watching The Nine Lives of Chloe King because I felt like a mediocre ABC Family show was just what I wanted… but there is nothing mediocre about this girl’s face! Oh my gosh, the lead girl is so cute and her hair is so pretty. There are a lot worse reasons to watch a show. ALSO, you get to watch this girl kick a whole lot of people asses and the fights are actually pretty awesome. SO UM, if you like cheesy teen supernatural romances and want one centered on a girl who wakes up one day to discover she has cat-themed superpowers and is actually a member of a race of ancient cat-people… this show is for you. :DD

Konno-san to Asobo (2008)

omg I just learned of its existence today, thanks to phrenk, but everything about this show looks AMAZING. As someone on d-addicts said, “It’s kinda like watching a wildlife documentary about teen girls doing silly and bizarre things.” Sooo, pretty much just Yoshitaka Yuriko having hijinks and being her incredible self and grabbing her friends a lot? I don’t even care that no one has subbed this. It is super short and super random and I am going to happily devour all this crack! :DDD  (p.s. - omg her face! omg her legs! *___*)

May I ask you a favor, tumblrites? Would you consider going to Fandom March Madness and voting for the radiant Aeryn Sun?

She is currently losing and that is a travesty to me as she’s a woman just as complex and admirable as your Buffy Summers or Veronica Mars or what have you.  She’s the big guns of her crew (which includes this guy), if you want someone you wouldn’t mess with, you want Aeryn. More than ladies in leather kicking ass and being the superheroes we want to be, Aeryn Sun has arguably the most growth on a show that’s all about characters becoming more than they thought they could be. She’s a soldier from a insular society that basically has to rewrite her entire world view and view of herself. And she proves to be smarter, more open, more curious, more loving, more passionate and outspoken than she thought herself possible. I wish I was a fraction of as brave as Aeryn Sun and I’m not talking about she way she fights.
